Since joining Stamford School as Head in September 2025, it has been a privilege to become part of such a vibrant and outward-looking community. Over the past months, I have seen first-hand the strength of the school’s academic provision, the care shown to every student, and the breadth of opportunity offered through an exceptional co-curriculum.
My career has taken me from Trent College and Millfield to Shrewsbury Bangkok, and most recently Tanglin Trust School in Singapore. Across these schools, I have been guided by a consistent belief that the best education combines intellectual ambition with outstanding pastoral care and rich experiences beyond the classroom. Stamford exemplifies this balance.
My wife and I have been warmly welcomed, and it has been a pleasure to get to know our students, staff and families, as well as the wider town. I am excited to build on the school’s strong foundations, to listen carefully to our community, and to work together to shape an ambitious and confident future for Stamford School.
Our 2025 ISI Report
We are pleased to share our 2025 ISI report, where Stamford School met every standard and both the Junior and Senior Schools were judged fully compliant. Inspectors recognised our nurturing, ambitious and forward-looking education for pupils aged 2 to 18. Inspectors highlighted the nurturing, ambitious and forward-looking experience our pupils receive every day.
Team sits at the heart of Stamford School. We are a community that prioritises people, belonging and culture. Students are known as individuals and supported to contribute, lead and collaborate with confidence. Strong relationships between students, staff and families create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed together.
Spirit reflects the values that shape who we are. It is rooted in service, integrity and a strong sense of identity, and sustained through shared traditions and collective pride in the school. This enduring culture encourages students to act with kindness, responsibility and purpose, fostering a deep connection to Stamford that extends well beyond their time here.
Fire represents ambition, excellence and engagement, underpinned by curiosity and innovation. We challenge students to aim high, to think critically and to apply their learning with intent. This purposeful ambition prepares students to make a meaningful impact in an ever-changing world.
Stamford is a beautiful and safe Georgian town known for its historic buildings and copious shops and cafes. With a vibrant population of nearly 21,000 people, its location in the East of England and practical transport links make it a popular commuter town for growing families.
