The Independent Schools Council (ISC) was founded in 1973 and currently represents over 1,300 independent schools educating over 500,000 children in the UK. The aim of ISC is to promote and protect the independent education sector. The ISC achieve this through; engaging with policy and public affairs, providing Media and communications support, and collecting sector-specific data and conducting research including the ICS Census.

The Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) is the only national award scheme to develop and celebrate the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools, and is achieved through a year-long process of audit, action and evidence-based reflection.
