Andrew named ‘Man of the Match’ playing for Beeston
A Student at Stamford School has been selected to play for Beeston Mens 2nd XI Hockey Team in the National League.
Andrew I, Year 13, successfully trialled at Beeston, allowing him to join their mens 1st and 2nd team training, and enjoy specific ‘goalie’ training. His first national league match saw a victory, with Andrew being named ‘Man of the Match’.
Further fixtures for Andrew this season will see him play against Durham University’s 2nd team and the top teams in Doncaster and Preston.
Andrew began his successful hockey journey when he joined Stamford Junior School in Year 6, where he reached the School A Team, and has played as goalkeeper ever since.
He successfully trialled for Cambridgeshire County in Year 7, was scouted for the Performance Centre, based in Bury St Edmunds, and made it into the Future’s squad for Saxon Tigers U15 and U17 team. He has also trialled for the U16 and U18 England Squads, narrowly missing out on making it to their final player selection.
