Spede-bird Triumphs in Swimming at Stowe
Stamford School returned victorious from Stowe Relays on the 28thSeptember, with silver to add to the cabinet. The school had been hosting a tournament, with 12 schools competing against each other – including Stamford’s historic rivals, Oakham and Oundle.
Stamford’s under 16 boys came in first in both the Freestyle and Medley Relays, with the girls coming a close second in their subsequent races. Under 19 boys went on to win gold at their Medley Relay, and finished second in the Freestyle, meaning that Stamford returned with the best results in a number of years.
Dominic Smith, Captain of the Stamford Swim Team commented: “An excellent start to the year – we have high hopes for the rest of the season. It was really fun to swim in a tournament with such diversity. Everybody played their part in the victory but a extra special mention to Matthew Rothwell for swimming up an age group.”
