Indoor Hockey First for Stamford’s U18’s

Ten boys from Stamford School have recently qualified for the Indoor National Hockey Championships, marking the first time a team has qualified from the Stamford Endowed Schools at this stage of the competition. The team achieved second at the East Regional finals, held at the University of East Anglia earlier this month, and will now compete in the National finals in January.

The U18 girls Hockey team also competed against tough competition in their East Regional finals, unfortunately just missing out on a National final place.

Mr Duncan Buckmaster, Director of Hockey at Stamford Endowed Schools, said: “As the first time that SES have qualified any team for the National indoor competition, it marks a huge tribute to the hard work of the boys and their coaches over the past few years.”

“The girls also played very well against some tough competition. We took a brilliant mixed age group squad who have gained invaluable experience and who can’t wait to start building on this for the future.”
