Applying to the Junior School
We would recommend getting in touch with the Schools as early as possible, so that there is time for you to arrange a visit and meet with the Headteacher.
Children join our school in every year group, where space allows, and it is common to join mid-year. Additionally, it is not uncommon for waiting lists to be in place for some year groups, with some families choosing to enter their child to Stamford Junior School a year or two earlier, to secure a place.
To apply, you should return your completed application form and pay the application fee of £100. After we have received your application, we ‘ll invite your child into the school to spend the day with us. For the youngest children we’ll observe them whilst playing with others, while older children will be assessed in Maths, English and writing. These assessments are online, and we use them alongside reports from their current school to build up an accurate picture of your child’s progress to date, without overwhelming them.
We can also arrange a taster stay in our junior boarding house, St Michael’s, for children in Years 3-6.
The admissions process should be an enjoyable and interesting experience for both you and your child. Our pupils, as well as our staff, enjoy welcoming new children, from their assessment day to when they join us.
