Book for our Discovery Mornings

Discovery Mornings are a chance to explore the Schools on a normal working day.

You and your family will tour the School in the company of one of our pupils and will meet the Principal and senior team over tea and coffee.

Junior School (Reception – Year 6):
Wednesday 15 May 8.45am – 10am

Senior School (Year 7 – Year 11):
Wednesday 15 May 10am – 11.30am

Spaces at a Discovery Morning are limited so that you can have as much time as you need to see the School at your own pace and discuss your child as an individual.

Sport at Stamford

Building a healthy relationship with sport and exercise.

On this page

"Sport is an integral aspect of life at Stamford. Through sport we aim to give your child a healthy attitude to physical activity throughout his or her school career and, more importantly, for life."

Director of Sports

Stamfordian Life

Children with a sense of belonging and pride develop emotional resilience.

Through unrivalled facilities and excellent teaching and coaching, we offer your child numerous opportunities to compete and participate in an array of activities.

“He was only doing 30 minutes of sport a week at the village school, there's so much more opportunity here for rugby, football, cricket, hockey...that was enticing to us.”

Year 4 parent

The Burghley Run

Each year, students from Reception class to the Sixth Form take part in the ‘Burghley Run’, a cross country run of varying lengths through the parks of local historical home, Burghley Park.

Whilst it is a test of endurance and determination, it is, more importantly, a celebration of the enjoyment of outdoor movement and running in the stunning surroundings of Stamford.

“The memories created at sporting events like these last a lifetime and we hope our students, from as early as reception, can learn the enjoyment and reward that can be gained from a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle that can be hugely beneficial in later life.’

Mark Nasey
SES Director of Sport

Opportunity For All

Participation brings with it a lifelong affiliation and healthy relationship with physical activity, which is why it's a key focus at Stamford.

Examples include; Rugby, Football, Basketball, Cricket.

Being part of a team helps students to enhance their social skills, such as patience, empathy, communication, respect, compromise and tolerance. Together this builds rounded and grounded individuals, who are independent thinkers, fizzing with Stamfordian spirit.

Podium Sports

Performance (or podium) sports are for aspiring athletes, who can focus on high achievement in regional, national and elite level competitions.

Enjoyment - through growth, challenge and reward

Resilience - by experiencing moments of success and failure

Competition - characterised by co-operation and independence

Belonging - to Stamford in participation and representation

Physicality - based on knowledge of the benefits
